Something for the weekend

It’s that time again. We’re gearing up for the weekend and although we’ve heard somewhere that there is a heatwave en route, after a summer of many broken sunshine promises, we’re not letting that impact this weeks’ Something For The Weekend Column. Instead we’re simply embracing some of our favourite new in products, new launches and general shopping brilliance that we have located this week.

From exciting and innovative beauty, to gorgeous gifts and a peek inside our homeware choices.

Have a wonderful weekend!

First up are two of Margaret Hussey’s new finds:

CBD has been everywhere from gummies to capsules. But what about its benefits in the beauty industry?

Skincare brand OTO (it rhymes with photo) was founded by wife and husband team Gemma Colao and James Bagley after Gemma discovered the power of CBD whilst working in the fashion industry.

Teaming up with leading scientists and designers they wanted OTO to have simple, sophisticated CBD products that fit easily into our lives.

Their Ritual and Balance collections include day to night skincare products, as well as a selection of serum, cream, balm and oil products that work to protect, hydrate and repair the skin. Beautifully packaged and designed – with not a hessian bag in sight – they are packed full of essentials oils, Vitamins E and C and left our tester’s skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated. And we are very much here for that.

Ritual and Balance products are available at as well as at Harrods, Liberty, John Lewis and Fortnum & Mason. Prices range from £19 – £109

The nights might be getting darker but we can still inject some colour into our lives. Australian haircare brand BRITE has now launched in the UK with a whole host of colours from pastel pink to silver, blue to purple.

The vegan, cruelty-free brand is PETA-accredited and has everything from semi-permanent instant colours to wash-in/wash-out shampoos, if you’re not quite ready to take the full plunge, and bleach kits – including one specifically for coily/textured hair.

BRITE is in, prices from £6.99 -11.99

New season bags!

I love Alexander McQueen and this new style satchel-come-bucket bag is the perfect excuse for new adventures this season. In two colourways, burgundy and bottle green, this classic and timeless bag is one to cherish for years to come.

Cook Offs

We’ve settled into our new flat now and cooking and hosting our friends to show off new said apartment is now top of our list. As you may have guessed from our food column, I love being in the kitchen and this is the journal I use to plot out recipes for the blog. We’ve just bought one for a friends birthday too, as they’re a keen chef and I think it’s wonderful to finally jot down the recipes that otherwise live just in your brain. If you know someone who can whizz up a feast, then get this on their Christmas list.

Plate Up

Continuing on the theme of settling into new homes, I am slightly addicted to buying homeware, in particular serve ware and glasses, much, I assure you to my husband’s dismay. Although obviously he loves the eclectic dish life he is now living. This week we got these gorgeous bowls from Bordallo Pinheiro at Fenwick. We got the green and the white version of the large cabbage leaves and I literally can not wait to use them. Bordallo Pinheiro in general is a collection we’ve heavily invested ourselves in, as all the pieces are pretty fun and use fruits and vegetables as inspiration for their creations. Now all I need is to work out what meal we’re having.
