Something for the weekend: Here are the items that are making us happy this week

It’s a particularly weird time in the world. A real nervous energy can certainly be felt in the air. Whether it’s optimism for the future, the relaxation of rules and the complications that brings or simply the closing of a chapter as another school term draws to a close. It’s fair to say that lots of people are feeling a little out of sorts right now. So this week’s Something for the weekend column is simply about items that have made us smile over the last few days. Whether it’s been the arrival of a new dress, the dispatch notice of a piece of furniture or a small and somewhat self-indulgent treat. Here are our some of our smile inducing buys.

The Colourful Dress

We’re absolutely loving Boden at the minute. Their childrenswear is always joy inducing and their womenswear collections have gone from strength to strength. This beautiful and bright shirt dress is a real signifier of warmer days to come and will look as gorgeous at summer weddings as it will on holiday evenings. The future is bright.

Happy Homeware

Pineapples remain big news on the homeware circuit this season. Perhaps it’s a subconscious decision to fill our lives with Pina Colada evoking items as we aren’t likely to get that exotic holiday anytime soon, but this pineapple wicker basket really is a piece that will bring so much joy. Far more beautiful in real life, this picture really doesn’t do it justice. A substantial size basket, it’s great for towel or toy storage, or even for making your laundry seem more appealing. This really elevates the wicker basket to new levels.

Cheers to the Weekend!

At the end of the day, your booze has to be stored somewhere. That’s how we see it anyway. Now of course, bar carts have becoming incredibly popular, perhaps also impart thanks to the revival of 1920s inspired homeware, but if you’re looking for something a little more permanent and something that offers more storage solution than cocktail hour glamour, then a unit like this Rockett St George one could be the answer to your prayers.

Scent Sensation

We’ve all loved candles and reed diffusers, but we’re all about these chic Lava rock diffusers right now. Diffused through ultra-absorbent volcanic rocks and housed in a bespoke copper and iron vessel, this is the most stylish way to add beautiful scents to your home.

Pizza Perfect

The Ooni has really given the summer barbecue a run for its money. While we all love a cheeky bit of alfresco dining, not everyone wants the hassle of a big cook off, plus who doesn’t love pizza! The Ooni remains popular this summer, so if you’re fan of whizzing up your favourite takeaway at home, maybe it’s time to take the plunge. Better still, this has foldable legs so you can easily transport it with you, meaning you can take it on your staycation too.

Cheery Carafe

Whether you fill this amber coloured beauty with wine or juice, it will undoubtably enhance your table. There has been a real revival of amber glassware over the past 12 months and while it’s fairly evocative of vintage 70s dining, we are very much here for it. This gorgeous carafe has matching and tonally pairing wine glasses, for those who love a coordinating set and at under £10 this carafe is a pocket friendly treat.
