Listen: The Chill Life

We’re back with another playlist for your weekend

Maybe it’s the wet weather or maybe it’s just us but has this week seemed, well, long? We’ve made it to Friday though (hurrah!) so it’s officially time to finally kick back and unwind – what better way than with The Chill Life playlist?

As promised, every Friday we’re bringing you a brand new playlist over on our Spotify profile as part of our Listen section.  Last week’s contribution, The Friday Life, had us bouncing in our seats for the remaining hours of the working week but this week we’ve decided to do a 180 – we’re bringing you The Chill Life, full of mellow songs to soundtrack your weekend.

Featuring artists you’ll know like London Grammar, James Blake and Jorja Smith plus others you might not, this week’s guest editor is an anonymous music insider with their finger on the musical pulse. They’ve curated a playlist designed to help you chill out and let the worries of the week melt away as you listen. If we can’t get to the sunset beach bars of Ibiza, we’ll bring the boho to you with tracks from Lane 8, Tourist and Caribou all in the mix.

We challenge you not to have Henry Green’s dreamy cover of MGMT’s Electric Feel on loop after listening. It’s the perfect track for those dreamy sun-dappled moments that seem to decelerate the world down to a gentle slow motion.

Looking for artist names to drop for serious cool points? Look no further than Haux. His debut album Violence in a Quiet Mind was released on achingly cool label Ultra records in 2020 and a follow up album is rumoured to drop later this year, so beef up now to impress your friends at your next get-together.

Whether you’re barbecuing, heading off for the weekend or just hanging out, we hope that you find The Chill Life the perfect musical accompaniment to your time off. So grab a cold one, kick off your shoes (or slippers because WFH) and take a load off to these tracks that are guaranteed to soothe any frazzled senses.
