Something for the weekend

Can you believe Bank Holiday was a whole week ago. Neither can we. We’re in full September swing mode, which means new term has started (or is about to) and life feels like it might just be settling back into something of a familiar routine and boy doesn’t it feel good.

In celebration of back to business as usual, we’ve rounded up a few things that we think will make your weekend or even a weeknight, just a little more special…

Shake It

Celebrate the start of September with a little frivolity. We don’t know if you know, but Waitrose offer a host of virtual experiences. While the wine tasting experience has been the mainstay of the operation, they have introduced a virtual cocktail session for just £35pp. Booked via the website waitrosewinetasting.com the £35 includes this gorgeous box packed full of goodies. You will receive the ingredients and kit needed to make three cocktails: an Espresso Martini, a Fresh Gimlet using Plymouth Gin and an Amalfy Sunset Spritz with Malfy Gin Rosa. Garnishes include coffee beans, dehydrated strawberries and oranges and the kit includes a shaker, strainer and glasses – pretty amazing for just £35. You then book a masterclass session in, which is suitable for 6 people or more and will involve a virtual Zoom session. During the session, you will learn all about the right cocktail ratios, discover which drinks to shake or stir and learn how to build the perfect serve. Summer might be over, but the fun doesn’t have to stop.

Duvet Day

This is the ultimate in duvet day styling. We love a soft and sumptuous robe to slip into, post shower, before bed or just on a lazy Sunday morning and The White Company has come up trumps with this hooded robe. A quilted cotton robe with the feel of a duvet this is pretty magical. It combines everything we need for shuffling round the house. Oh, there are matching slippers too!

Good Coffee

If you’ve been abroad this summer, then we feel like might be having withdrawal from good coffee. Want to feel the metaphorical sun beaming down on you? Want to close your eyes and pretend that you’re at a magical little bistro somewhere gorgeous? Well this coffee making marvel won’t transport you to sunnier climes or promise to give you the day off work but it will help to make your coffee taste a whole lot more delicious. Suitable for most hob types (except induction) and in 1 – 9 cup sizes, this will give you proper espresso at home.

Smoking Hot

We’re clinging on to summer as hard as we can at the moment and while we suspect our optimism won’t last forever, we’re doing what we can to future proof our outside space. Enter the fire pit. Fire pits have become so popular of the last couple of years and they’re not only a great way of creating atmosphere of an evening, a fire will also help to keep your guests and yourselves toasty warm.

Set to become this season’s must have item, throw this over summer favourites to add an autumnal twist.
