Wide Tooth is the Winner
With curly hair often being more brittle than other types of hair a normal hair brush is too aggressive and will cause breakage to the strands. Swap out any hair brush you currently use for a wide toothed comb and gently pull this through will the conditioner or treatment is still on your hair there rinse. If at all possible try to make this the only time you untangle your locks as curls most certainly do not like to be combed when dry!
Twist and Pat
When your hair is wet don’t be tempted to vigorously rub with towel to help dry it more quickly. This motion will push the hair cuticles upwards and create the dreaded frizz! Instead opt for a gentler approach by first squeezing out as much water as possible. Next, wrap your hair into a twisted towel and apply pressure all over to pat away the excess moisture
Lighten Up
In the same way that anti-frizz products weigh down the hair, oils and serums have a very similar effect if applied while the hair is still wet (and therefore before your curl is set) which can really drag down those locks leaving them a looking a little limp. Switch those wet hair products out for a light weight curl cream or leave in conditioner, applying through your mid lengths and ends with your fingers and gently scrunching upwards.
Curl Creams & Leave Ins
This same rule applies to hairspray – if you want added hold to your finished do opt for lightweight hairspray formulations over him hold. You don’t want to compromise that beautiful natural movement!
