Best Christmas jumpers for women for Christmas jumper day – from utterly chic to fabulously festive

Christmas jumper day in December 2021 is on Friday 10th December. Festive jumpers have long been a tradition for many and with Christmas jumper day landing towards the start of December, it is the perfect way to get into the swing of festivities, particularly if you’re finding embracing that Christmas spirit a little tricky. As Christmas jumper day grew in popularity, so did the plethora of jumpers with festive nods. The high street is now awash with everything from on-trend and rather stylish fair isle knits to jumpers with twinkly touches and the utterly Christmassy slogan sweaters that are sure to illicit plenty of smiles.

This season is no different and of course after a bit of a washout Christmas last year, we’re desperate to get back into the festive spirit and what better way to do that than with a cheery piece of knitwear. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite Christmas jumper buys, from the cute and cheeky styles to kitsch Christmas jumpers and super chic knits that you can get away with wearing, long after you’ve turned off those fairy lights.

But of course don’t forget, the idea of Christmas jumper day is to raise money for Save the Children, so don’t forget to sign up and donate! Maybe you can organise a fundraiser in your office too.

Merry and Bright

This is a slogan knit but not as you might expect. In a wool and cashmere mix, this super luxe jumper from Chinti and Parker packages Christmas cheer and style into one. Easily paired with everything from denim to a sleek pencil skirt, this is the fashion forward way to do Christmas style.

Absolutely Fabulous

A nod to Christmas with this fun and colourful knit but not overtly festive, you can certainly get away with wearing this Christmas-isa jumper all the way through spring. We love the typography and also any excuse to remind everyone we’re awesome – because the season of cheer is here!

Cute Overload

Yes it’s a kitsch Christmas jumper but we love it. Packed with pops of colour and festive symbolism, this is the sleekest way to do a kitsch Xmas knit this season. Great for Christmas jumper day but equally fabulous with a little sparkle come the day itself.

Slope Chic

If you’re not one for novelty, then seek out the array of fair isle jumpers that have made their way on to the high street and the catwalk. Ready to take on the winter, these jumpers can pull off Christmas jumper day but are timeless and stylish pieces you can bring out again and again, even after the last of the turkey has been eaten. We love the doubt sleeve on this one.

It’s a cracker

If there ever was a time of year we could pull out all the stops when it comes to titles, it’s right now. This jumper, embellished with sequinned crackers and ‘joy, peace, love’ is such a fun little Christmas number and of course a strong contender for Christmas jumper day, but certainly one to be rocking on the day itself or Christmas Eve.

Glitz and Glam

I have many sequin sweatshirts, it is somewhat of an obsession and I fully believe they can be worn pre, during and post Christmas to add a little sparkle to your day. This is the perfect jumper for those who don’t quite do full on festive but do love a bit of twinkle.

Christmas Graphic Sweatshirt, £38, Next

Cosy Chic

Huge fans of Brora here, their quality is utterly divine. While this is not a Christmas jumper per se, again the fair isle style is one that loans itself well for those who can’t abide going cute, or want to invest in something they can wear again and again. A Brora jumper will never bring regret, they’re just far too lovely.

All things bright and beautiful

Although you will always be able to get a kitsch Christmas jumper on the high street, we’re definitely seeing a move away from graphics and pictures and more innovative designs that incorporate fair isle knits as they’re more versatile for the whole of the winter. I absolutely love this rainbow inspired one, it’s so beautiful.

Keep it cute

I mean, where do I even start with this. Who can resist a pup in a hat?! This is Christmas jumper day in a nutshell. It’s very fun, very festive and very much just for the Christmas season.

Designer Dream

If you’re looking to go a little more stylish, this amazing winter jumper, complete with fair isle inspo, is the designer way to do a Christmas jumper. I love the colour combination, subtly Christmas but still utterly sleek and the motif design is again a nod to the festivities without once being cheesy.

MAJE, Fair Isle-inspired wool-blend jacquard sweater,  £249.00, Selfridges

Pink Perfection

Another Christmassy inspired number for all those who refuse the sequin life. This cardigan is absolutely beautiful and has a lovely vintage feel to it. It will also look gorgeous over dresses and with floaty midi skirts come spring. It’s a high ticket item but can work with lots of different items making it really versatile.

LOVESHACKFANCY, £525, Harvey Nichols

All that glitters

Such a beautiful cardigan, not normally one for pastels, this one might just make its way into my wardrobe. The jewelled buttons, the delicately sprinkled sequins almost look like little sweets. Paired over a pretty dress or thrown on over a camisole and jeans, this is a statement little knit that will dress up your look in an instant.

Penguin Power

A combo of fair isle inspiration, motif penguins and Christmas slogan, this jumper really has it all. It’s kinda kitsch but a little bit more cool than your average festive knit.

Jumper, £19.99, H&M

Frill and fashion

For less than £20, this stylish knit is twinkly enough for Christmas jumper day but can also take you easily from office to bar for those all important Christmas drink dates.

Mistletoe Magic

This sweet jumper is confined to the Christmas season but in a great pastel pink and red combo it’s got a lovely 50’s feel. Of course you can pair it with jeans, but why not try going all out and rewearing with a full skirt for those Grease vibes.

Pink Fluffy Christmas Kisses Sequin Logo Jumper, £23.99, New Look

Cuteness Overload

We couldn’t not finish on something that embodied that frivolity that is Christmas jumper day. This sequin pup embodies the fun that the day and the jumper symbolises. Sometimes you just gotta let go and embrace your inner child. If there is one day in the year where you can wear a sequin dog, this is it.
