Women’s winter dresses to keep you stylish and warm this season

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is winter and that means you’re going to have to pack away those lovely light layers, boho dresses and anything else that looks like it is more use on a beach than a blizzard. I’m very guilty of still trying to wear some of my more floaty kaftan dresses right now, when I know that I should be prepping for cooler climes.

But have no fear. If you’re after a winter dress that still has plenty of personality you’ve come to the right place. While trends such as boho used to be reserved for summer months, the adoption of this style means we get plenty of winter ready spins of it too. Essentially a winter dress will often just be some of your most loved summer styles in a heavier fabric or a darker print. Equally if there are some gems you’re not ready to give up to the frost, then try layering a fitted roll neck underneath or one of this season’s must-have longline cardigans on top for an easy way to adapt wardrobe favourites.

But if you’re in the market for some newness, here are our favourite women’s winter dresses to shop right now.

Knit One

The knitted dress is a great winter fallback. As simple as a sheath dress, this classic silhouette is a great base layer. Dress it up with costume jewellery or make it office ready with tailored blazer. This A-line knitted dress easily skims across your silhouette and will look great belted too.

Floral Fancy

Boho, but for the winter, this gorgeous floral dress will work well into spring too. For colder days add a chunky cable knit cardigan for added warmth and to keep in line with the boho feel of the look. We love this dress teamed with chunky, rain weather boots.

Cashmere Cosy

Of course fabric matters when it comes to keeping snug in the winter and this cashmere dress from Zara will certainly help you stay super cosy. Worn as a relaxed, jumper dress this can be easily dressed up, particularly over Christmas with great party flats and some statement jewellery. Looking for a more tailored finish? Simply add a slim belt to highlight your waist.

Get Shirty

The pop-over shirt dress is for those of us who simply do not have the time, nor the inclination to do all the buttons on a shirt dress in the morning. This easy throw on piece features a front panel of buttons, but is kind of like the shift version of a shirt dress. In classic animal print leopard, this look really won’t date and made from organic cotton, you can wear this right through the year. Pair with opaque tights and a chunky knit cardigan for cold winter days.

Wedding Ready

With the wedding chaos of the last 18 months, wedding season has just turned into… whenever we can, quick while there are no restrictions, let’s go season. And while winter weddings were always a thing, the stream of social engagements has certainly seen a strong uptick in recent months. So if you’ve got a winter wedding on the horizon and really no idea what to wear, these gorgeous floral frocks from H&M are not only budget friendly but you can certainly wear it again and again after you’ve watched friends say, ‘I do’.

Leather Love

Leather is a great fabric for the colder months and this leather shirt dress is absolutely exceptional. Currently on offer, you can expect to pay into the hundreds for leather as it is a premium fabric, but leather dresses really do last and last and unlike most fabrics, they tend to only get better with age. This beautiful dark brown leather dress is super chic and will definitely become a power piece in your wardrobe. Easily customise this piece by swapping out the leather belt for a statement buckle belt, or a belt that offers a pop of colour.
