Primark have done it again and they’ve got us waving our debit cards in the air, with their brand new furniture collection.
While you could always buy little bits of homeware and soft furnishings from the fast fashion retailer, this is their first major foray into larger homeware items and we have to admit we’re pretty impressed.
With a mixture of smaller items such as nesting and bedside tables, to larger sideboards and clothes rails and the perfect WFH desk, the collection as one might expect, is bang on trend.
Rivkie rounds-up her favourite pieces that are on her shopping list and where to pick up the Primark furniture collection, as it isn’t stocked in all stores.
Please note the collection launches in October, check with individual stores for stock levels and products.
It might just be paranoia but I feel like the Primark team have been in my flat. Annoyingly I’ve nearly bought everything now, although of course, as a true shopping professional I’m sure I can squeeze a few more bits in, the vibe of this collection perfectly matches everything I’ve tried to create in my little home.
Rattan has been huge for the last couple of years and is a great way of bringing a natural, lighter and brighter feel to a home, as well as creating that concept of ‘bringing the outside, in’. To that end, natural wood and rattan hues forms the very basis of this collection. As someone that has stared at many a sideboard and chair in the last 12 months, I can tell you that this Primark collection gives a strong and well crafted nod to the likes of Made.com and La Redoute, except at the fraction of the price.
While the majority of the collection is light and airy, there are still some strong Art Deco vibes, with marble topped side and nesting tables and some great bar carts that retail at just £40. It really feels like the Primark team have created their list of must have products for the 2021 home and created a lust worthy edit of pieces and all under £90. If you were looking to do a quick homemaker, this is the time.
Here are a few of my favourite pieces and at the end of this article is a list of all the Primark stores that will be stocking furniture.
WFH in style
If you’re bored of your WFH situation or you’re somehow still searching for the perfect desk, this neat narrow desk is a total steal at £40. In this gorgeous blue/grey hue, it features a laptop friendly depth and some sleek storage to help you keep things together. This would also make for a great hallway sideboard too for added versatility.
Take A Seat
This is the chair silhouette that everyone has been going crazy over and I can’t believe how good this Primark version is. Available both in black and in natural beige, both with rattan upholstering this is the piece in the collection that gives the biggest nod to designer furniture. I don’t know where in the flat I can fit one but I’m going to give it my best shot.
Love love love the beige version too. This one is sure to be a hit, so make sure to grab yours fast. Great for extra seating options.
Beloved Bar Carts
At home bar carts gained a resurgence a couple of years ago with the growing love of velvet furnishings and a real enthusiasm for all things Art Deco. If you fully embraced lockdown life and perfected your at home bar tending and cocktail shaking skills, you may have already invested in one of the high street versions of this must have piece of furniture. If not, well done for resisting for so long. Your reward? A goldstone bar cart for a bargain brilliant £40.
Believe me when I tell you, rattan sideboards normally cost way more than £60. This is such a great, budget-friendly piece, if you’ve wanted to buy into the trend but have been pondering whether to splash the cash, then this cute piece should be high on your priority list. I absolutely love it.
Dreamy Bedside Table
Probably somewhat naively I have been shocked at how expensive bedside tables are, so the fact that this little cutie is just £20 has already got my attention. A great little style steal. It could also worked really well next to a sofa or armchair as the perfect spot for resting a cuppa.
From a fully selfish point of view, this little nesting table set matches my green velvet couch, so I’m just leaving this here as reminder to myself. Great for if you like to chill on the couch with a cuppa and a snack (I mean who doesn’t?), these look so much more expensive than their £45 price tag. They would also look great as a feature in the corner of a room with a couple of pot plants on them.
After growing up in a household with one too many Billy bookcases, I have vowed to continue to search for slightly ‘different’ bookcases and storage solutions. Again available in the natural beige rattan and a black version, I am loving this tall storage unit. It’s narrow silhouette is great for those tight on space and of course, it’s another brilliant bargain piece.
Also very much feeling this version of the tall shelf.
Neat and Tidy
If rattan is not your thing, I’ve probably lost you by now, but if for some reason you have persevered through this ode to rattan, then I give you some plastic crates. I actually love a plastic crate for storage and if you’ve got open shelving, then these are a great way of keeping everything in check, they’re good for transporting laundry around the home too. I love the muted hues these come in too and there are lots of different sizes depending on your storage needs. They’re also made from recycled plastic! Plastic crates from £1.50
Basically, in conclusion, if you see a woman struggling out of Primark next week, under too many rattan items, it’s me, come say hi.
Here are all the places you can find the new collection. Pieces start dropping from October, so check in with the stores for specific items before heading in.
