Margaret Hussey rounds up the hot culture you won’t want to be missing out on
Red alert

If you want to paint the town red, you can’t find a better spot than the fabulous The Little Scarlet Door. The cocktail bar, bang in the centre of London’s Soho, is inspired by Andy Warhol’s factory in New York. Set over two floors you get the vibe of being in someone’s flat with a Smeg fridge, kitchen, colourful cushions, accessories, Playstation and even a laundry area. Our favourite spot is the little sofa upstairs, where you can watch the comings and goings on Greek Street while slurping decadent cocktails and eating yummy cheese toasties. It’s also available for private hire and smaller spaces for up to 14 people. For more visit thelittlescarletdoor.co.uk
Master the art

With everyone tightening their belts now, we are always on the look-out for low-cost events. Which is why we love the National Gallery’s Summer on The Square. Its biggest ever free festival of immersive art, creativity and community will run from August 11 to 19 on London’s Trafalgar Square. The festival is a re-working of the Gallery’s art collection with a purpose-built arts studio and loads of accessible activities for all ages. There will also be large-scale installations including Van Gogh’s A Wheatfield with Cypresses and Manet’s Music in the Tuileries Gardens.
